They need you! The Stories

Andrew, aged 90, spent his days walking up Grant Avenue Norwood. Even with assistance from his grandson, it took him four hours to walk on his crutches. As he grew older it became increasingly difficult. One of our founders of The Walk Tall Foundation took Andrew under his wing. Andrew was given a wheelchair to make his days easier as well as food money weekly.

Joshua is a 35 year old man suffering from a severe lung disease. Due to his illness it is not possible for him to work. Our founders have tried to place Joshua in jobs but it is not possible for him to work. The only way Joshua survives is with the kindness of others such as our founders who give him food money weekly.

Successful and intelligent, John had a high position in his place of work. Unfortunately disaster struck when John was in a terrible car accident. Everything he had spent his life working for was gone. The accident caused John to loose his voice as well as suffering an agonising back injury. Johns luck seemed to turn around when he claimed from The Road Accidents Fund and was paid out. However, the very same day, all the money John had to his name from his settlement was stolen. For many years John could not find work and with assistance from The Walk Tall Foundation, he was given money, food and clothing until he found work and was able to support himself once again.

Jodi is a single mother of three. She supports her children on a basic salary and no child support from the children’s father. Jodi works as much as possible but this is also very difficult as she is sick. As well as this one of her children has a learing disability as well as Attention Deficit Disorder. For Jodi and her children everyday is a struggle. With help from the founders of The Walk Tall Foundation Jodi is given money monthly as well as a tutor for her children.

William is a single father. Last year William lost his business and due to the economic crisis his new business ventures have failed. As William is an older man, he cannot find work. The founders of The Walk Tall Foundation assist William with accommodation, food parcels and a job.

Susan is n elderly woman who lives alone. Her children have immigrated and as she is often sick, she cannot afford transportation. Our founders have changed Susan’s life by giving her a car.

Amy is a matric student who’s family cannot afford her school fees. She is a highly intelligent girl and our founders assist her with her school fees. Amy is achieving high marks and is a model student.

Our Vision

What could be more satisfying than seeing some down trodden person we know "Walking Tall" again, without anyone knowing how they got back on their feet?

This our my vision...

We are a new organization who’s aim it is to allow those individuals whom we help to restore their dignity once more. It is for this reason, we have decided not to use the words, “foundation or trust” as the connotation is charity.

We have decided to start a dignity re-habilitation organization. As you know I like giving and I am currently supporting a number families. I would like to increase it to 20 families a month.

I realize I can't do this on my own and the success of this organization will only be through the help and generosity of others. I have been charitable and enjoyed giving from the day I made my first buck. For those of you who are wondering why the sudden need / want to start an organization like this, it is not new to me. It is something I have wanted to do for the past few years. What has triggered it off has been my health. As most of you know I have been sick for nearly a year now, I have CFIDS (Chronic fatigue immune disorder syndrome) while this sickness is totally debilitating it has made me see how lucky I am compared to other people suffering from it. In the morning it takes me 1 – 1.5 hours just to get the energy to get out of bed and I am only able to work a few hours a day. If I was not in the fortunate position I am in, did not own my own business and did not have an amazing wife and family I would have lost my job 6 months ago and landed up like most other people with CFIDS who loose their jobs and homes and all else as they are not able to work.

Having said that, this organization is not aimed at sick people but rather those who are down and out and need a second chance, our goal is dignity re-habilitation.

First and foremost we will be able to give immediate relief to the situation, Food parcels for those that need. Help with rent, clothes, education etc. There after we will look to make these families self sufficient. Seeing there are so many people we would like to help, each case will be individually assessed and a realistic time period of help will be given before we move onto the next case.

There is no discrimination in who we chose to help. "Walk Tall" is a section 21 company and DOES NOT have any overheads. The use of all personnel, offices, telephones, faxes etc. is donated. Every cent will be accounted for and all donations will go to the needy

Our goals are to identify

Families in need

Rehabiliate them and get them on track

Donate to animal charities

Disaster fund raising

My Mom Janine Lieberthal will be heading up the foundation, she has spent the last 15 years involved in charity work. She has been very involved with the O’Conner foundation as well as Alexandra Disability Movement.

I have sent you this email asking if you would be prepared to pledge a small monthly amount to help us reach our goals.

Please indicate if you are prepared to help and would be prepared to sign a debit order. Any person collecting for us does so as their contribution and all proceeds go to worthy causes. As little as R50 a month will help us make a huge difference please mail me on Jayson@printxpress.co.za or contact Janine on +27 74 104 0602
